How to create a tree
Navigate to the “Trees” section of the app using the footer:


New Tree View

You can add an avatar to your new tree pressing the “Add a photo” in the top right section of the view.

Select the strain you are growing. You can search it from the database, create your own strain or just set it to “Unknown strain” if you don’t know where it comes from.

Set the stage of your tree.

(Optional) You can set the name to a different one (the default name is your strain name) and how many of them do you want to create.

(Optional) Set the medium of your tree and add a description to get better advice from Grow with Jane.
Tap the “Save” button in the bottom right corner of the screen to create your tree and that’s all!
How to edit the tree information
Edit your tree information to change or update your strain information, the dates of the stages, the name of the medium or the plant you are growing.
You have multiple options to change the information of your tree:

From your tree list, tap the tree avatar to select it. A green footer should appear. You will find the “EDIT” option by opening the menu in the three-dots icon.

From your tree view, tap the three-dots icon to open the menu. You will find the “EDIT” option.
Read strain information
In your Tree view, tap the “Strain name” under the “Tree name” and “Environment name” to read more information about the strain you are using.

Changing tree stages
You can change your stages by selecting the “Change Stage” item in your tree view or by selecting the trees in the tree list, in the menu in the “More” icon.
You should be able to change the stages of your plants and the specific date it changed.

Changing a tree or trees to other environments
You can change your trees’ current environment by selecting the “Change Environment” item in your tree view or by selecting the trees in the tree list, in the menu in the “More” icon.

Mark tree or trees as dead
You can mark a tree as dead by selecting the “Mark as dead” item in your tree view or by selecting the trees in the tree list, in the menu in the “More” icon.
Archive a tree or trees
You can archive your tree by selecting the “Archive” item in your tree view or by selecting the trees in the tree list, in the menu in the “More” icon. You will find all the archived trees in the “More” view.
Harvest a tree or trees
You can mark your tree as harvested by selecting the “Harvest” item in your tree view or by selecting the trees in the tree list, in the menu in the “More” icon.
Add weight to a harvested tree
Using the navigational footer, tap in the hamburger menu to open the “MORE” view. Tap on the “Harvest” item from the list and tap on the weight icon to log your harvest weight.

Delete tree
You can remove a tree by selecting the “Delete” item in your tree view or by selecting the trees in the tree list, in the menu in the “More” icon. This action is permanent, it has no way to be undone.
How to create an environment

Navigate to the Environment View using the footer.

Tap the floating green button to create a new environment.
Environment types
Grow with Jane currently has two types of environments. Indoor environments and Outdoor environments. Each environment changes the available properties of the environment.
For outdoor environments, the only property to change is “exposure time”, meaning how much time does the plant receive sunlight.
For indoor environments, you can write down the lights you are using, the exposure time of those lights and their size.
Exposure time
You can change the exposure time of the plant by dragging the circle in the “Exposure Time” section.
Lights
You can add every light in your environment.
Currently, these types are available:
- LED
- Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL)
- High-Pressure Sodium (HPS)
- Metal Halide
- LEC
- T5
Available fields for lights are “Wattage” and “Color temperature”
Sizes (optional)
You can add the size of your growing environment.
How to delete an environment

Navigate to the “Environments” view with the footer bar, and tap the trash icon of the environment you want to delete.
This option appears when extending the card using the down arrow icon on the left of the card.
How to edit the environment information
Navigate to the “Environments” view with the footer bar, and tap the EDIT of the environment you want to delete.
This option appears when extending the card using the down arrow icon on the left of the card.
How to change the environment avatar
Edit the selected environment and press the “CHANGE PHOTO” button in the top right corner of the “Environment Edit” view.

What actions can I track in Grow with Jane?
In Grow with Jane, you can track all these activities:

- Water
- Nutrients
- Repellent

All actions have a default text area so you can write a note. Some actions have specific and optional properties to fill.
Every action can be repeated. You can repeat an action daily, weekly (selecting which days in the week), monthly or yearly. You can also set the interval of repetitions (every day, every 2 days, every 3 weeks, etc) and when the repetition should stop (never, until a stage, until X times).
You can set an alarm with every action. The alarm will show a notification that a pending action exists.
Watering amount
You can write down the amount of water you are giving to your plants
Nutrients application method
You can search and select the specific nutrient you are using from our nutrients database, amounts, and the application method (Spray, Liquid or Solid).
Repellent application method
You can write the application method of your repellent between Spray, Liquid or Solid.
Training methods
You can the training method you are using. The available methods are:
- FIM
- LSD (Low-stress training)
- SCROG
- Supper cropping
- Topping
How do I track an action?

Tap the action icon in the tree view, or select your tree from your tree list and tap the action icon to open the “New Action” dialog.
You can instantly create an action by selecting it from the “Instant action” button bar in the tree view
From the Dashboard: You can add an action reminder by tapping the floating button in the bottom right corner and tapping the “Action” button from the menu.
From the Tree List: Select the trees by tapping the tree’s avatar and add the new action by tapping the “Action” button in the bottom bar.
From the Tree View: You can tap the “Action” button below the calendar to create a new action
You also can tap your desired action from the “Instant Actions” button bar.
How do I remove an action?
In the dashboard or the tree view, long-press the action you want to delete. A menu will open with a “Delete” item.
How do I edit an action?
In the dashboard or the tree view, long-press the action you want to delete. A menu will open with an “Edit” item.
You can also tap the “More Information” icon at the right of the action. It will open a modal with the action information and the “EDIT” button.
How do I add a new action reminder?
Tap the “Add a notification” item in the “New Action” view
What types of logs can I track in Grow with Jane?
You can log a lot of properties in Grow with Jane, about the trees or about the environments.
The logs of the trees are:
- Height
- PPM
- pH
- EC
- Water Temperature
The logs of the environments are:
- Humidity
- Environment Temperature
- Outside Temperature
- Light distance
- CO2
- Precipitations
How do I track a tree log?
From the Dashboard: You can log a new property by tapping the floating button in the bottom right corner and tapping the “Tree Log” button from the menu.
From the Tree List: Select the trees by tapping the tree’s avatar and add log a new property by tapping the “Tree Log” button in the bottom bar.
From the Tree View: You can tap the “Tree Log” button below the calendar to create a tree log.
How do I track an environment log?
From the Dashboard: You can log a new property by tapping the floating button in the bottom right corner and tapping the “Environment Log” button from the menu.
From the Tree List: Select the trees by tapping the tree’s avatar and add log a new property by tapping the “Environment Log” button in the bottom bar.
From the Tree View: You can tap the “Environment Log” button below the calendar to create a new environment log.
How to add a new photo
You can upload unlimited photos of trees and environments. The photos are automatically backed up in the cloud and don’t appear in your phone’s gallery to keep them away from prying eyes.
Add notes to the photos, tag them to single or multiple trees or even an entire environment.
Select your photos from your phone’s gallery or take them directly in the app with your camera.
From the Dashboard: You can upload a new photo by tapping the floating button in the bottom right corner and tapping the “Photo” button from the menu.
From the Tree List: Select the trees by tapping the tree’s avatar and add upload a new photo by tapping the “Photo” button in the bottom bar.
From the Tree View: You can tap the “Environment Log” button below the calendar to upload a new photo.
Where are my photos stored?
Your photos are unlimitedly stored in Grow with Jane’s cloud services, and your phone only temporarily stores your photos. This is so you can keep that sensitive information private and away from your physical device.
Why can’t I see my photos in the smartphone gallery?
Your photos are unlimitedly stored in Grow with Jane’s cloud services, and your phone only temporarily stores your photos. Your phone gallery won’t show you the photos stored in Grow with Jane so no prying eyes can easily get those files
How to share a photo
You can share a photo by tapping the “Share” icon on the top right corner when you are viewing a photo.
How to delete a photo
You can delete a photo by tapping the “Delete” icon on the top right corner when you are viewing a photo.
How to download a photo
You can download a photo by tapping the “Download” icon on the top right corner when you are viewing a photo.
How to register actions, logs, and photos to multiples trees
When creating a new action, log or photo, you can add all the trees or environments that you want to include in the “Trees” field of the form.
You can select multiple trees by tapping the tree image in the “Trees” list. This will open a button bar at the bottom of the screen with options: add actions, logs, and photos to those trees.
Charts
Charts are a great way to visualize your activities. For example, you can create charts that show the growing progress of a group of trees, the evolution of the pH level, the environment temperature and more.
Creating charts
You can create charts by navigating to the “More” view via the footer bar and tapping in the “Charts” item in the view. This will open the Charts view. Tap in the “+ Create a new Chart” button at the bottom of the screen to create a new chart.
Tools (Unit Converter, Calculators)
Grow with Jane helps you convert measurement units, calculate harvesting times, lighting areas, pH solutions, and soil mixes.
To open any of those tools, navigate to the “More” view via the footer bar, and tap in “Tools”, the item will expand with the available tools.
- Unit Converter: Convert length, area, volume, time and temperature units from metrical systems to imperial systems.
- Length conversion: Convert measurements between meters, centimeters, millimeters, inches, feet, and yards.
- Area conversion: Convert measurements between cm², m², in², ft², and yd².
- Volume conversion: Convert measurements, cc³, m³, in³, ft³, gal, ml, l, cups, fl. oz, pint, quart, and tbps.
- Time conversion: Convert from and to hours, days, weeks, and months.
- Temperature conversion: Convert from and to ℃, ℉, K.
- Stage Dates Calculator: Calculate your estimated stage dates according to the strain information provided by the producer.
- Area Lighting Calculator: Input your watts/area and calculate the total amount of watts to cover an entire area.
- ph / Water Calculator: Calculate the necessary volume of a known additive to reach the desired pH on your solution.
- Soil Mix Calculator: Calculate the amount of product required from each component. Add the number of pots and the volume and component percentage to known how much volume of each component you need.
Growlog
By tracking your activities and your trees in Grow with Jane, you are automatically generating a growing journal called Growlog. Using the Growlog, you can easily check how your plant grew over time and what have you done with your plant since the beginning.
To check out your growlog, go to the “Trees” list and tap the icon on the right side of each tree listed.
You can check your growlog by opening the “Tree” view and tapping the icon in the right top corner of the screen.
Share a growlog
You can share a growlog with anybody using a publicly accessible URL link that will be shown. You can share that link with anybody. The shared growlog it’s anonymized.
To share a growlog, first, open a growlog, and then tap de “Share” icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Post-harvest
You can keep adding information and accessing your tree after harvesting. You can check all your harvested trees by navigating to the “More” view using the footer and tapping in the “My Harvests” item on the list.
Log Weight
Open the “My Harvests” view and tap the “Weight” icon on the right side of each listed tree.
Moon Calendar
The moon calendar it’s useful for keeping track of the moon cycle. Each cycle has specific actions you should be doing.
To see the moon cycles in the calendar, press the 3-dots icon in the dashboard calendar and tap the “Show moon phases” option in that menu.

Calendar
The calendar is the way Grow with Jane helps you change the day you are working on. A green circle tells which day is selected and a grey circle around the date helps you recognize the Today date.
Little colored dots below the date indicate the activities done in those moments.
By selecting a date in the calendar, you are selecting the date of the actions you are inputting in Grow with Jane and the activities you did on that particular day.
Drag left or right in the calendar to change the week.
How to see Moon phases from the dashboard
To see the moon cycles in the calendar, press the 3-dots icon in the dashboard calendar and tap the “Show moon phases” option in that menu.
How to see the entire month in the dashboard
To see a monthly calendar, tap the down arrow icon in the dashboard calendar. It will expand the calendar from a week view to a monthly view.
Adding new actions, photos, logs from the dashboard
By pressing the “+” button in the bottom right corner of the dashboard screen a menu with “Actions”, “Photos”, “Tree Logs” and “Environment Logs”.
Trees
The “Trees” list shows all the active trees you have, the default grouping is “Environments”. You can expand o contract all grouping by tapping the arrow on the right side of each subheader of the list.
The list can be filtered, ordered and grouped differently by tapping the “Filter” button in the top right corner of the screen.
From this view, you can also multi-select trees and create new ones.
Ordering and filtering
In the “Trees” view, tap the “Filter” icon in the top right corner of the screen. The “Trees” list will slide down and show the filtering, sorting, and ordering options available.
Environments
The “Environment” view lets you manage your environments. You can add new environments, add “Environment Logs” to the environments, edit them and delete them.
Gallery
The “Gallery” view is a centralized way to see all your photos, from every tree and environment, in one place.

Profile
Is Grow with Jane anonymous? How can I try Grow with Jane without giving information?
Grow with Jane is an app that can be used anonymously, without a username or e-mail. The only drawback is that an anonymous account is temporal. Logging out of an anonymous account means losing all your data.
Logging out can happen when: using a cleaning app in your device, changing your device, too much time without opening the app, etc.
We strongly recommend registering your account with a username or email and a password so you don’t lose anything.
I’m an anonymous or temporal user. How can I register?
You can register your account via the “Protect your account” warning in the dashboard or in the “More” view. A warning sign should appear at the top of the screen. You can also register your account by navigating to the “Profile” view in the “More” view.
How to add or change my username?
Using the footer, tap on “More” and select “Profile”. Add or edit your username and tap Save.
Usernames are case-insensitive.
How to change my password?
You can change your password by using the footer, tap on “More” and select “Profile”.
Tap the “Change Password” button and follow the instructions.

How do I add an email to my account?
You can change your e-mail account by using the footer, tap on “More” and select “Profile”. Change your e-mail account and tap Save.
Subscription
Grow with Jane is a free app with a subscription offering that unlocks its full potential. The offering can change without warning to provide a better service for the users.
What does the subscription offer?
The subscription allows you to create unlimited trees, environments, and charts, high-quality photos, same-day growing support and access to a private community in Discord where you can find other like-minded growers.
How do I stop the subscription?
You can stop your subscription going to the “Growers Circle” item in the “More” View and tapping the “MANAGE SUBSCRIPTION” button. You will be redirected to your device manufacturer subscription management view.
How do I change my plan?
You can stop your subscription going to the “Growers Circle” item in the “More” View and tapping the “MANAGE SUBSCRIPTION” button. You will be redirected to your device manufacturer subscription management view.
Can I share my subscription?
You can’t share a subscription with other users. You can share an already subscribed account with other persons.

Measurement Units
You can switch your temperature measurement units from ℉ and ℃. You can also change your length units from Centimeters (Metric unit) or Inches (Imperial units)
Change the temperature units (℉, ℃)
To change the temperature units, navigate to the “More” view with the footer bar, select “Settings” and change the temperature units by tapping the “Temperature unit” item in the list.
Change the length units (mm, cm, meters, inches, feet, yards)
To change the length units, navigate to the “More” view with the footer bar, select “Settings” and change the length units by tapping the “Length unit” item in the list.
Photo compression
Change the compression of the photos you take. Navigate to the “More” view with the footer bar, select “Settings” and switch the “Compress” toggle under “Photos”
Erase all of Grow with Jane’s data
If you need to erase all your information stored in Grow with Jane, navigate to the “More” view with the footer bar, select “Settings” and press the “Erase all Jane’s data” under “Security”.
This action is permanent and cannot be reversed. Use with caution.
