Jungle Cake

Cake strains are the latest hype in cannabis genetics, boasting uniquely sweet, nutty, and creamy aromas as well as excellent potency. Jungle Cake is a standout offspring of Wedding Cake—arguably the biggest Cake strain on the market—that boasts exceptional THC and terpene concentrations as well as a happy, uplifting, and surprisingly balanced high.

Strain History of Jungle Cake

Jungle Cake is a descendant of the mighty Wedding Cake line created by Seed Junky Genetics. Seed Junky is a renowned Californian seed bank headed by JBeezy, a long-time breeder and grower known for his passion for pheno hunting. Since starting his career in the 2000s, JBeezy and his crew at Seed Junky have introduced the world to many highly sought-after strains, including:

• Wedding Cake
• Ice Cream Cake
• Kush Mints
• Jealousy

Jungle Cake is now commercialized by Jungle Boys, a collective led by Iván Vanorwick that has brought together hundreds of growers from Los Angeles.

Genetic Lineage of Jungle Cake

Jungle Cake was created by crossing Wedding Cake, one of Seed Junky's most beloved creations, with White Fire #43. The result is a well-balanced hybrid with high THC levels, plenty of terpenes, and great growth traits.

Jungle Cake's first parent, Wedding Cake, is a famous strain in its own right and arguably one of Seed Junky’s most iconic creations. While its genetic origins are somewhat debated, one thing is for certain—Wedding Cake is a very popular strain, known for producing a heavy-handed stone thanks to its high concentration of THC and sweet pastry terpenes. Depending on what you read, Wedding Cake is said to stem from a cross of Triangle Kush and Animal Mints, or a cross of GSC and Cherry Pie.

Jungle Cake's second parent is White Fire #43, also known as WiFi 43. Propagated by TLC Collective in Los Angeles, White Fire #43 is actually a special pheno of OG Raskal's renowned White Fire OG. White Fire #43 was, you guessed it, the 43rd seed of a lot of over 500 seeds popped by OG Raskal, and stood out for its intense aroma that combines notes of diesel, fresh menthol, and tart lemon over earthy undertones. Similar to Wedding Cake, White Fire #43 is known for producing a relaxed, sleepy physical stone.

Physical Characteristics of Jungle Cake

Jungle Cake is rumored to be a fairly balanced hybrid with an even split of indica and sativa genetics, which shines through in its structure and appearance. Clones of this strain grow to moderate heights with regularly spaced nodes and large, bright green leaves. As they flower, Jungle Cake plants can stretch notably and quickly develop elongated, bright green flowers with few leaves and a frosty layer of trichomes.

Properties and Effects of Jungle Cake

Jungle Cake is a very potent strain reported to produce up to 28% THC. The dominant terpenes in this strain are said to be myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene, which combine to give Jungle Cake its unique aroma—think sweet pastry notes underlined with hints of black pepper, toasted nuts, and dank diesel fuel.

Thanks to its rich concentration of THC and exotic terpenes, Jungle Cake produces heavy-handed effects that'll hit you like a freight train the minute you light up. Within minutes, expect to feel a rush of cerebral euphoria coupled with a relaxing body buzz. As the effects intensify, you'll likely find yourself in a happy cerebral daze while your body stays nice and relaxed. In higher doses or in individuals with a low tolerance for THC, Jungle Cake may produce more notably sedative effects. Once Jungle Cake's effects wear off, you'll probably feel tired and relaxed, ready to crawl into bed for a long, restorative night's sleep.

Uses of Jungle Cake

Many people find this strain great for social occasions or for relaxing at home, and some find its effects to promote creativity or increase motivation to complete housework.

Some ways rec users like to enjoy Jungle Cake include:

• At parties or while painting the town
• While relaxing after work
• After a workout
• While listening to music
• When practicing yoga or other light physical activities
• While enjoying the outdoors

Thanks to its physically relaxing and mood-boosting effects, Jungle Cake is also very popular among medical cannabis users. While there is no clinical research to show that Jungle Cake has medical/therapeutic properties, MMJ patients report using it to address a wide variety of symptoms and ailments impacting the mind and body. In particular, Jungle Cake may be beneficial for individuals dealing with sleep-related issues.

Like all THC-rich cannabis varieties, Jungle Cake is known to produce side effects in some users. These may include dizziness, dry eyes/mouth, headaches, and anxiety/paranoia.

Cultivation and Production of Jungle Cake

Jungle Cake is a rare, clone-only strain usually available from dispensaries or Seed Junky/Jungle Boys clone drops. Reports and diaries from growers suggest that Jungle Cake is a robust and hardy strain that grows well both indoors and outdoors, as well as in hydro or soil setups.

Thanks to its vigor and resilience, Jungle Cake responds well to different training techniques, from defoliation and LST to super cropping and more. Growers report, however, that Jungle Cake can take up to 14 weeks to fully mature, which may not be viable for inexperienced growers or outdoor cultivators living in areas with short summers. Unfortunately, there is no information available about this strain's yield potential.

Jungle Cake — A Unique Pastry Delight

Descending from the almighty Wedding Cake, it's no wonder Jungle Cake is becoming so popular. With its unique aromas, impressive cannabinoid concentrations, and well-balanced high, it's a great smoke for anyone wanting to feel relaxed and uplifted all at once.
