VIVOSUN 3x3x6
Indoor • 92cm x 183cm x 92cm

This Mephisto Double Grape plant experienced a full life cycle from germination to curing, spanning 107 days. The grower meticulously documented the plant's journey through seedling, vegetative, and flowering stages, providing insights into nutrient feeding schedules and occasional defoliation for optimal light penetration. Despite a minor bout of nutrient burn early in the flowering phase, the plant recovered well, showcasing vibrant purple hues and significant frost development in its final weeks. The harvest was celebrated on day 74, followed by a drying period and then curing, leading to the first tasting notes shared approximately three weeks later.

Day 42. Six weeks! A few leaves were looking rough, so I removed them. There are still leaves with burn, I just didn’t remove them because they weren’t nearly as bad as the couple I removed. I mostly think my last feeds ppm was raised too high after mosquito bits and Kangaroots were added, so I’m not too worried. I also think she needs more calmag, so I’ll double the dose next time, at a slightly lower ph to make the calmag more accessible. Still happy!

Day 36. Looking good! The feed ppm feels pretty good. A couple of new leaves with tip burn, but that’s about as far as it gets. Bud sites look good. The LST is very disorganized, and that’s mostly because I didn’t top. I’m halfway considering throwing up the trellis net. Either way, keep growing!

Day 35. Watered with 1 Gal of feed water. It runs off a lot, but I know that the plant will suck up any left over within an hour or two. She looks really good, and she’s gotten a LOT larger the last few days. I tried to remove a few really weak bud sites, and basically everything below the canopy has been removed. I’m not very well versed in LST, so it’s all trial and error. My ultimate goal is always to get to harvest, and if that means sacrificing yield, so be it. We are well over half way!

Day 28. Fighting the humidity and temperature battle has been tough in the flowering tent. I had to turn my lights down to prevent heat build up, and I have a pretty large humidifier in there now. Based on leaf temp, my VPD is okay at 1.2-1.3, so I won’t worry too much yet. Other than that, just continuing to tuck and adjust stakes as necessary. I believe that this week is the start of week 2 of bloom, so next week I’ll do a bigger defoliation and water with bloom nutes

Day 27. I’m not sure if my grow hub is having issues, or if it’s the vivosun app, but today is the second time during this grow that the lights have turned off too early because the app thinks my recipe is different than the one I actually have input. The lights were off 3.5 hours early, so I’m just going to take away 3.5 hours of it’s night period, and leave it with a one hour off period before the next “day” starts. Regardless, watered with 3L of RO water supplemented with CalMag and kangaroots. Last “plain” watering before I switch to bloom nutes. My tent is now maintaining 75F and 55% RH

Day 26. She is most certainly flowering! I was right about the Pistils yesterday, so this likely means she’s entering week 2 of bloom. Since it’s still early, and my medium still has nutrients in it, I’m going to do one more regular water feed before I switch to feeding bloom nutrients. Did one last leaf removal before she does her thing! A lot of potential bud sites were being covered, which I will mostly chock up to my poor LST skills. Lessons learned

Day 23. Watered with 3L of RO water supplemented with 2ml CalMag and 5ml Kangaroots. Ppm 197, PH 6.5. Touch of tip burn on a few leaves, which I believe to be PH related. I’ve been watering at relatively low PH’s (6.2-6.4) when I should’ve been watering between 6.5-6.8 in my particular medium. Lessons learned. I believe the plant is also very close to bloom, as most of the bud sites look different, like little tiny buds, peep the bud photo. Another lesson to be learned, I need to fill the pot a lot higher. LST is getting hard, now that the leaves are getting large.

Day 17. This is war. The gnats have become a problem, and I’m concerned that they are the cause of some holes in my leaves. I had my circulating fan set to natural wind, so I turned that down in case the leaves were being damaged by that. I know for a fact that I am still too rough with the plants, so I may be the cause of some tears. However, the gnats seemingly multiplied out of nowhere and no amount of diatomaceous earth could fix the problem, so I’ll be using mosquito bits for the next few waterings. I also have 3 sticky traps and 2 coffee traps to take care of the adults. Hopefully this works. Watered with 2L of water today, and used some sturdier LST clips on a few branches to control

Two weeks! She looks great, considering some newbie mistakes and faulty equipment. Two days ago, my lights decided to randomly change its schedule. Today, my tent heater was off balance on its platform just enough to trip the safety mechanism, meaning it didn’t turn on. Luckily, it was during lights out, and it basically gave it an hour long night time drop, but I caught it and was able to fix it. The gnats are still around, so I’ll keep an eye on it, and if they remain, I’ll be watering with a mosquito bit tea when it’s time. The plant looks good, and everything is going really well, all things considered. I’m looking forward to its continued growth.

Fed in the morning with 1L of feed. My VPD was really high, which caused my plant to transpire too quickly. The old growth has some brown spots on it, but it’s easily fixed by retaining a higher humidity until the plant is truly developed. I’ll leave the humidity around 70, which will allow for a much lower and appropriate VPD

The natural wind settings are entirely too strong for my plant at the moment. The fan inside of my light was actually making the plant claw a little bit, so I’ve turned down the fans to power 2 on a cycle of 20 on, 10 off.
Note
Day 12. Gnats appear to have been remedied. Diatomaceous earth and perlite do the trick, but I had mosquito bits on back up. My lights decided to be off for 3 hours today when they should have been on, so I gave the plant an extra 3 hours of light during dark hours to make up for it. I changed the wind settings, as I think the plant was getting knocked around a bit. I’m going to maintain 77 degrees and 60% humidity for VPD’s sake. Plant is now under 500ppfd of lighting. Veg is here!

I switched the spectrum on the light to the veg spectrum, Light intensity will be increased until I hit 600 ppfd at the canopy, at a 5% increase each day. I’m transitioning the humidifier from 70% to 55%, 5% each day, and I’ve also turned the circulating fans to the natural wind setting. Temperature will stay the same, at around a 77 degree average.

I’ve been having a bit of a gnat problem, so first, I sprayed a 3:1 hydrogen peroxide spray. Second, I laid down some diatomaceous earth, mixed it into the top inch of soil, then laid another dusting on top. Finally, I laid down an inch or so of perlite, and replaced the old sticky traps. Assuming this doesn’t work, my final step is to feed the plant with its regular feeding plus mosquito bits. Luckily, gnats aren’t that big of a deal, so there isn’t much to worry about
