Rocky Dennis

Rocky Dennis is the name of a mysterious hybrid cannabis strain believed to originate from Colorado. While its breeders have released little-to-no information regarding its origins and growth traits, many users (both recreational and medical) swear by its effects, aromas, flavors, and more. Below we've compiled all the information currently available on the Rocky Dennis cannabis hybrid.

Strain History of Rocky Dennis

Rocky Dennis is a rare hybrid strain by Cannarado Genetics. Based in Colorado, Cannarado Genetics is a fairly low-key breeder with a long trajectory as both a breeder and grower, though his brand officially launched sometime around 2010. While the man behind Cannarado might not be as well-known as other breeders and seed banks, he has been behind some major strains, including:

• Grape Pie
• Apple Gushers
• Sundae Driver
• Pie Hoe

While maintaining a fairly low profile, Cannarado has led major collaborations with Jungle Boys, which have helped to propel some of his strains to fame, particularly Sundae Driver. In interviews, Cannarado claims he has a deep passion for classic Dutch strains, such as Pot of Gold, Super Silver Haze, White Widow, Hash Plant, and more, as well as strains with diesel/fuel aromas. Cannarado has also collaborated with DJ Short, the celebrated creator of Flo and Blueberry. Unfortunately, Cannarado has never explained how he came to create Rocky Dennis.

Rocky Dennis shares the same name as an American teenager diagnosed with craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, a rare bone disorder that causes disfigurement of the skull and premature death. The boy was the subject of the 1985 movie Mask.

Genetic Lineage of Rocky Dennis

Rocky Dennis is believed to be a balanced hybrid with an even split of indica and sativa genetics. It combines genetics from DJ Short's Flo (aka CO Flo) and Sour Dubble, a direct descendant of the almighty Sour Diesel.

DJ Short is a legendary breeder, often dubbed the "Willy Wonka of Pot", thanks to the sweet, fruity, and candy-like aromas of flavors of Blueberry, Flo, and his other strains. Flo, Rocky Dennis' first parent, is arguably one of DJ Short's best-selling hybrids and has been a favorite among smokers everywhere since winning the 1996 Cannabis Cup. Flo combines genetics from two landrace varieties: Purple Thai—a mostly sativa mix of Highland Oaxacan Gold and Chocolate Thai bred in Oregon—and a heavy, hardy Afghani indica. Flo is known for its energetic, uplifting, and creative high, as well as its spicy, herbal pine aroma.

Rocky Dennis' second parent is Sour Dubble (aka Sour Dubb). Bred from East Coast Sour Diesel and Sour Bubble, the original Sour Dubble is believed to be an uplifting sativa hybrid. However, more modern recreations of Sour Dubble tend to be slightly more indica-dominant. The strain's aroma is uniquely sweet and sour, with notable diesel notes and a subtle fruity aftertaste. Its high, on the other hand, is said to neatly blend both physical and mental effects.

Physical Characteristics of Rocky Dennis

Rocky Dennis isn't listed on Cannarado Genetics' website. Unfortunately, other seed banks don't seem to stock the strain either, meaning there is very little information available about its physical characteristics.

Based on the few available pictures of Rocky Dennis, it seems to be a moderately sized strain with small, thin-fingered leaves. It produces olive-green flowers with large calyxes, bright-orange pistils, and a thick, white coating of sugary trichomes. In some pictures, Rocky Dennis flowers show clear signs of foxtailing, which gives the buds an odd, eye-catching structure.

Properties and Effects of Rocky Dennis

Rocky Dennis is rumored to be a strong hybrid, though its exact THC levels haven't been published. There's also no information available regarding the strain's terpenes, though users report it has a pungent aroma that combines upfront notes of pine and fuel with lemony overtones and subtle earthy hints.

Users also say its effects kick in very quickly, producing an immediate rush of cerebral energy. Within minutes, you can expect to feel giggly, chatty, and social. Some find Rocky Dennis' high to be motivational and creative, while others say its strong euphoria can make it hard to focus. As the cerebral buzz wears off, many users experience a warm body buzz that's relaxing and, in larger doses, sleep-promoting.

Uses of Rocky Dennis

Recreational cannabis users treasure Rocky Dennis' relaxing, happy, carefree high. Some users find its effects to spark productivity, while others find them more social and intoxicating. Some possible uses of Rocky Dennis include:

• At parties and social settings
• While working from home
• To boost creativity
• While doing chores
• While enjoying hobbies such as gaming

Some medical users also report using Rocky Dennis to address a wide variety of symptoms and conditions, thanks to its mix of cerebral and physical effects.

While the exact THC levels of Rocky Dennis aren't known, this strain is known to be very potent. If you have a low tolerance for THC or are new to cannabis, dose carefully as, like all high-THC strains, it may cause unwanted side effects, such as:

• Dizziness
• Dry mouth
• Dry eyes
• Paranoia

Cultivation and Production of Rocky Dennis

Unfortunately, there is no cultivation information available about Cannarado's Rocky Dennis. As the strain has been taken off the breeder's website, we suspect it is no longer available for sale, at least not to home growers. The little information available about this strain suggests that it is relatively easy to grow and fairly resistant to stress as well as pests and pathogens. There is currently no yield information available for Rocky Dennis.
