9 weeks old, D64. Some discolored/burnt leave tips. I believe she had grown a little into the lights and it was a little too hot at this point. I rearranged the tent this morning to better balance the light distribution based on plant heights and age. The lights for this girl are at 18”, DLI 40.3.

This girl has continued to stretch, at least a couple more inches in the last few days. Noted plant drooping some before lights out, makes me think she’s getting a little too much light. Elevated main lights several inches, now 20” over this girl, turned all down a notch to 6. DLI 49.3.

I pH’d the slurry this morning to 7.2. Soil pH meter still reading 7.2. Adjusted feedwater to just under 5.95 to try and drive that down. As she was still pretty damp, pushing a gallon through her generated a lot of runoff, estimated about 56 oz., pH tested to 6.58.

5 weeks old, D37. Believing I’m having issues with nutes I wanted to make sure pH was not a contributing factor. I started by taking a meter reading in the soil, result 7.1. The soil was pretty dry so wasn’t sure I should trust that. I decided to push enough water through her to get a good runoff reading. I pH’d the water (with a tsp of Epsom salt in a gallon) to 6.2.
After 5 liters I got a runoff reading of 6.57. I left my soil pH meter in the pot while doing this, interestingly it went up to 7.6 as the soil soaked up the water. I decided to go ahead and run the rest of the second gallon through her and get a reading, ended with the last 16 oz of runoff testing to 6.55. After the second gallon my meter reading was back down to 7.1.
I know some might question the accuracy of these meters but this one has proven pretty accurate in the past, but that was why the runoff testing. I’m also soaking a slurry right now as another data point.

One of the possible problems with the discoloration noted yesterday could be too much light. I swapped out the tray for one without wheels lowering her about an inch, and decided to reduce all lights to 7, so for this girl, with some more growth, lights are now at 18”, DLI 54.1. That’s a bump down, though still a little high with that additional stretch. Monitoring.

With some growth and the new lights added (IB-S16s) main lights are now at 19”. The new IB-S16s of course add more light. After bumping down the main lights (EVO3 and IB-U4) to 8, DLI now at 62.6, a little high, will be monitoring.
