Welcome to my journal! I grew three Durban Poison feminized seeds from Crop King Seeds in soil. This was my first time growing anything. If you are interested in going through this journal and not wanting to go through all the excess details, just about every week I did a weekly update and pictures. These begin at 1 week 5 days, and then are at (1-16) weeks 5 days, about every single week. If you want more info about that phase of the plants life when you get there, it is surely in the days previous or following.
One of the things I frequently noticed reading other journals while learning about the process was that I often had questions that would have been answered if there was a lot of detail, so with this journal my goal was to log everything I do and keep track of all the relevant data every day. It was excessive, however, I enjoyed having all of that information and it made care decisions day to day much easier and was much less just doing what I felt was best. All of my care decisions were informed by a combination of data I logged, notes I took, and online reference materials to ensure my ideas were sound. With that in mind, my goals when starting this were as follows: 1) a grower who might find themselves in the position I was when I was starting can read a new growers thoughts, concerns, and actions day to day. 2) if the conditions are similar, this grow could be replicated by just following what’s within the journal. 3) if there are issues, there’s plenty of information available to narrow down the exact cause. 4) a high quality and respectable harvest for a person that is first time growing anything, and 5) to show that even if you don’t know anything about growing, like I did, you can do it too.
I believe I accomplished these goals. Regarding 1), now that I have some experience but am by no means close to being an expert, I can reference those early notes and reassure myself things are going well during my second grow. For 2), I am not running the same seeds so it’s hard to say for sure, but I know I am following and iterating on my strategies during this grow and things are going fairly well. On 3), I didn’t really have any issues. I believe this is because I so rigorously logged and thought carefully through my decisions. That said, there were things that made me uncomfortable but were for sure nothing major in retrospect; this gives me confidence in my methodologies, and should anything pop up on next grows, I know help will be easily found. Everywhere that helps troubleshoot cannabis problems requires much of the data I tracked, and the more you can provide the more likely you are to receive help figuring out a diagnosis and getting your plants back to good health. For 5), I like to think that I did demonstrate this clearly.
Elaborating on goal 4), I believe I did well from standards I read online and even if I didn’t, I was very happy with all aspects of my harvest which is ultimately likely the most important thing. Additionally, everyone who tried it has given great feedback, including some that said it was some of the best stuff they have had in a while without them knowing I had grown it. Here are some more details: I obtained 158.4 grams of dried buds that was jarred to cure. I used a 235W true draw (advertised as 1200W) cheap blurple, and a common metric for judging yield is grams of product produced per watt of light. I read to expect 0.5g to maybe less per watt with the type of light I had. 158.4g/235W=0.67g/W, which was about 33% more than the estimated 0.5g/W. Additionally, from 54.3g trim and bottom shelf buds, I produced 15.5g (28.5% yield) RSO. This came out to be about half as strong as what you can get at dispensaries around here, and I was pleasantly surprised at this. My region has outrageous dispensary prices, and my overall yield if bought at a dispensary equaled out to thousands of dollars in premium buds (70-80$ for 3.5g around here, lol) and hundreds of dollars of RSO (30-40$ for 0.5g). Even still, at black market prices this was a very worthwhile investment just on one grow and will pay for itself many times over in the future.
I strongly recommend new growers to 1) make sure you are getting good genetics in your seeds, 2) watch what you put in, watch what comes out, keep an eye on the environment, and track data relevant to these things (ie pH and ppm/EC going in, daily temperature and humidity ranges). Use all this when evaluating your plants. The plants will tell you when something is wrong, and if you keep track and do all this and have issues, you will likely be able to fix things yourself or with some outside help if it comes to it. I’d wager that if you do these things and the plants still turn out poorly, you have poor genetics in all seeds or that particular seed is just a poor individual. Another thing I would tell my beginning self is to not be worried about things beyond your control. For example, I checked them every few hours as seedlings and fretted over them. Me worrying and doing that did nothing to help the plants grow, and could make things worse if you act preemptively out of misplaced concern.
Finally, I think cannabis growing seems like many other things where you get out what you put in, even if you have 0 natural abilities. I took time basically every day to tend to my plants to take notes and gather data. I spent a long time before starting reading about and researching the process. I didn’t have the best equipment and passed up fairly easy techniques that would have increased my yields just to keep things simple for the first go, and I still am happy with the results. I hope you find something of value from this journal, and I am also logging my next grow at https://growithjane.com/growlog/skyler-njzf/. I invite you to join me there if you like, I will keep an eye periodically on the comments over there if any should pop up, and if you reference this grow I will attempt to respond. Happy growing!

Three week from starting cure and testing summary: Not a whole lot new this week, continues to smell better and taste better. Had a few more very positive reviews, and the RSO is treating me well. Instead of a week four update, there will be a likely lengthy retrospective about the whole experience (this is my first time) uploaded around friday 9/18, at which point these plants will be marked as harvested and the next grow has already been going.

Two week from starting cure and testing summary: I'll soon have more than a dozen people having tried the flower, and all have given very positive reviews about effects with some examples describing it as "one of the best strains for relaxing and sleep" "five stars". No negative comments about the experience of the smoke (body, taste, harshness) though a friend who grows pointed out smell and taste was mild because of that, and my experience also matches. The flower is getting better and better from the cure, and when i get some grams out for personal use every couple days it seems better every time all around. This includes the high, though is vastly more noticeable with things like the flower's smells and smokes body and taste. The RSO turned out well. Using legal dispensary RSO syringes given analyses and using weights used in the cooking process, I devised a calculation that suggested 0.5mL dispensary syringes around 60-80% thc are roughly plus or minus ~0.1 from 1 mg thc/gram of food. 50-70 grams of food was the sweet spot for me using the dispensary syringes, and using 1 mL of the home made RSO for this recipe requires an equal amount of grams of food to get me to roughly the same spot, perhaps better off even. Unfortunately, there is some leftover Everclear that is detectable when smelling the product and produces a slight burn while eating the food. Will try to boil more next time, but I am very happy with this RSO and it is definitely worth whatever small unpleasantness is caused by the residual Everclear.

Test notes: Person C, a heavy cannabis user like myself with only a couple days cure "Very strong head high sets in within 2 to 3 moderate hits (first smoke of the day). The high continues to increase in strength almost on a per hit basis and makes it fairly easily to know when to stop or keep going. The high sustains itself pretty well, and while being okay for working is most definitely suited to relaxation and decompression. From my own experience this probably one of the best strains I've tried in regards to allowing me to slesp. Taste is mild but I suspect that's due to the short cure time. Smell also mild due to cure time"

One week from starting cure and testing summary: Flavors and smells developing still. The flower is not really harsh anymore, though taste is still slightly off it is improving. I way overdried and will be using bovedas on and off for what's looking to be the entire cure process. Nonetheless, the flower has had 5 very positive reviews (I'm included) and more soon I suspect, with the majority share of those being heavy users. Today, I used the standard grams of the recipe I used from the dispensary RSO syringes and the effects were noticeably more potent. Thus, the RSO works well but I am still teasing out dosage versus dispensary RSO out of curiosity.
Nota
Although the jars went to the mid 50s after the burp late last night, the bud has already rebounded to the 60s. In the evening, the jars were 60-62% and so bovedas were removed. If they stay in this range I will burp in a few days and repeat the process.

Buds were removed from 6 jars and excess stems were removed. Buds were placed back into jars, giving 5 ~75% full jars. Jars were left to burp for 30-45 mins, and humidity dipped to mid 50s. Bovedas were thrown back in. They seem to be coming along nicely, I hope the overdrying and bovedas do not do too much damage to the curing process
Nota
Test notes: Tried my RSO. I most definitely should have boiled more; I warmed up the oil in my hand and it leaked out of the syringe. From a syringe that was 2.8mL or so 1-2mL went into my standard RSO recipe due to the leaking. Using this recipe, I devised a calculation from dispensary syringes to determine mg thc/g of edible and it came out to roughly 1 mg/g depending on the % of the syringe, with around 50-60g being my sweet spot. I ate 42g of the current chocolate, and it is either equipotent or slightly more potent than the dispensary syringes, though they only contained 0.5 mL. This makies my oil about 50% and maybe slightly weaker than that acquired from the dispensary, which is about where I had guessed it would end up at the end of the preparation procedure. Ideally, I will be able to measure out exactly volumes straight from the fridge next time. Also of note, there is a stomach burning when first eating, suggesting Everclear is still present. Will boil down more next time.

Humidity up again, and the bud feels much better, and also seemingly looks better. Planning on burping tomorrow, likely in the evening. After burping and if humidites get to or remain around 62, the bovedas will be removed. I may also rearrange the buds in the jars a little bit to be solely premium flower. Some stems were kept in hopes of drawing out moisture that they apparently had none of.
Nota
Test notes: Was able to send out some samplers and received the following feedback. Bud had only been jarred about 48 hours when it was sent out, and was tried within 48 hours giving the following data. Person A - "Finally able to try green 🤙 (using a one hitter). My opinion - smells good, looks good, and doesn't hit super strong but rather a slow and steady high which I really like. Overall pretty good high. I dig it." Person B "impressed by appearance and smell. Usually smoke a full bowl or bong and 1 hitter has me feeling decent. I approve lol." Person B is currently a heavier user than A. For me, testing flower out of a jar was already much smoother and I can tell taste and smells of the finished product are developing in spite of the likely overdrying. Not yet very close to one week cure yet and vastly improved over the smoking experience of the early sampler and first smoke from the harvest. Effects still quality and not noticeably changed. Person As description is pretty spot on with my experience.

Nota
Procedure for RSO, Day 2 Part 2: In a room on a desk with nearby windows open, fans blowing, oven mitts, easily available water, and a preplan for extinguishing a fire in case a fire sparked there was set up a hot water bath, described as follows: The 1L beaker containing the cannabis tincture was placed into a pot that held a volume of hot water that came up to slightly under the liquid level of the tincture in the beaker while not allowing the beaker to be buoyant. This apparatus was placed on a hot plate. The hot plate was heated slowly with temperatures being monitored with a thermometer. The tincture was brought to a light, barely perceptible boil as that was the best the hot plate that was used could do. This required several hours to reduce the volume of the tincture. As expected as the Everclear boiled off, the tincture became progressively darker. During the long boil, it was confirmed that the glass that was used to contain the tincture could handle the hottest points of the hot plate.
Nota
Humidity up slightly again, average 60% though one jar was up to the 62% the boveda pack advertises. On track to burp Monday. Large temperature variation was caused by a temporary change in where the jars were stored so that I could produce the RSO.
Nota
Procedure for RSO, Day 1: An oven was preheated to 250 degrees. A bag of flash frozen trim was weighed by difference from the bag it came from, giving 204g of flash frozen trim. This trim was placed on aluminum foil that was on a cookie sheet, and spread out as evenly as possible though it was enough plant material that it wasn't a thin layer. The trim was occasionally mixed up and heated for approximately one hour fifteen minutes in the 250 degree oven. Afterwards, the trim was crispy feeling and left a mixture of green, brown, and gold plant material. This trim was then collected in a bag and weighed by difference, giving 56g (27.5% of first weighing, likely lost a lot of moisture as the trim was flash frozen and this probably also required a longer process of heating in the oven than would dry plant material) decarboxylated trim. The bag of decarboxylated trim and 1.75L of Everclear were left in the freezer overnight to make the extraction more selective.
Nota
Conclusion of RSO procedure: RSO procedure yield=15.5g/54.3G=28.5%. This is nearly double the % yield I expected from reading, and i likely could have boiled off a little more Everclear but since it was my first time I didn't want to overdo it. There was also the isopropyl alcohol that was likely fairly concentrated from cleaning harvest tools that added to the yield. Finally, I tried to make clear when I had exact measurements by noting them as such. Many measurements are simply noted as "approximately" based off kitchen glassware measurements or similar, which arent as exact as say scales or graduated cylinders. I will soon be testing potency, and will adjust my approach as necessary if it isn't particularly potent.
Nota
Procedure for RSO, Day 2 Part 3: After 3 hours of this incredibly slow boil, the remaining volume of the tincture was filtered into a smaller beaker that suggested there was approximately 100 mL of tincture left. This smaller beaker was placed directly onto the hot plate, and the hot water bath was placed to the side. The temperature was again slowly brought up, and the thermometer quickly revealed the temperature of the tincture climbed higher than it did in the hot water bath, allowing a more vigorous but still safe boil. After approximately 4 hours from the start of the boil, a dark black/brown liquid was collected by 3 mL oral syringes. As temperatures decreased, this liquid became more viscous and oil like in it's consistency. The collected oil was weighed by difference in the syringes, giving 15.5g Rick Simpson Oil (RSO).
Nota
Procedure for RSO, Day 2 Part 1: The decarboxylated trim was removed from the freezer as rapidly and safely as possible to keep the temperature low, and was placed into a 1 quart (946 mL) wide mouth mason jar that also contained some isopropyl alcohol that was used to clean equipment as harvest happened. Weight by difference of the mason jar revealed 54.3g of trim was inside the jar. The Everclear was then removed from the freezer as rapidly and safely as possible to keep the temperature low. Approximately 500 mL of Everclear was added to the mason jar by beaker. This was enough Everclear to slightly submerge the decarboxylated trim, though the jar was very full without much room to breathe or stir. However, there was just enough to work with. For approximately 30 minutes, this mixture was lightly agitated with a wooden spoon, and also shaken and inverted while the lid was on. This mixture was then poured through 4 coffee filters into a one liter beaker. As the flow of liquid became slow to nonexistent the filters were strained and replaced, and additionally the trim was squeezed to release absorbed Everclear. There was thus retrieved approximately 500 mL of a very deep green, almost black cannabis tincture.

Test notes: Grinded some for testing, there is the slight smell of fresh cut grass and hay but I likely wouldn't catch onto it if I hadn't experienced it so strong from the early sampler. When grinded, there is strong earthy/pine smells, the lemon is not as distinct as in the jar. The flavor of the smoke is not unpleasant necessarily and is not particularly noticeable. I enjoy the taste of quality cannabis, and I hope the taste develops with the cure. Not as harsh as the early sampler either and it's spent less time in the jar as well, further evidence I overdried the first sampler. Effects are similar. Pleasant and potent, within a couple hits brings about the high for a daily user like myself. If the flower develops into being a little smoother and tasting better, I would place it up there with the best of the best black market cannabis I have had. There will be further entries like this as others give me feedback and there will also be a weekly entry on wednesday summarizing how the effects and smoke develop as the cure goes on.

Dried buds were taken down, stems were not snapping but bud was dry and as I trimmed off some of the large stems that I kept the bud hung up by, the bud seemed perhaps overdried. Nonetheless 158.4g of buds and some stems but not as many as pictured in the bin going in were placed into 6 quart mason jars at 1424 with hygrometers reading low to mid 50s and room temp will be 70-75. Will leave them sealed until late this evening and burp them, if the humidity remains in this low range I am likely going to place boveda 62 in the jars to bring them up to the cure zone and take the bovedas out and try to keep the buds there myself, but if this is difficult bovedas will be reinserted. In the evening, around 1900, the humidities remained low mid 50s so boveda 62s for one ounce were inserted into each jar. Jars have strong lemon and pine smells remnscinet of pinesol with very faint undertones of old school skunk smelling cannabis. Very enjoyable, likely testing a bit tomorrow.

the small amount I set out for myself that was jarred early is already smelling much more cannabis like than the early LB sample ever did, which I believe now I overdried. To avoid this im likely going to jar the rest of the crop in the next day or two as hygrometers should be in and if the bud seems too moist I can rehang. Determining harvest yield will be as follows: the buds will be weighed before they go in jars, and this likely gives them stem and maybe some water weight as well, though if they are too wet for the jar the weight will be taken again after they dry more

Harvest came and went without a hitch except it took from early Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning. However, all that is left to be done is dry and cure the buds. The trim will be converted to RSO, and notes on that procedure will be added when appropriate down the road after it is performed. The plants were different maturities by trichome development and unfortunately I was unable to keep track of all plants branches through the process. With that in mind, all future updates will be regarding all plants but listed under FP and usage details will be just part of the crop. This also means I will be unable to tell how much each plant yielded when totally prepared for consumption, and the smallest plants yield was the highest while the largest was the lowest. I suspect this is because of the plants needing water for the few days before harvest. The smallest plant always went through the least amount of water although they all received equal volumes, which could explain the wet weight numbers. Thus, the dry weight at the end and amount of extract yielded will be for the 3 plant crop and likely placed as FP. For the drying phase and future, I will be entering daily environment data. I will add logs periodically if they feel relevant to the dry and cure. at a month or so of curing, I plan on writing a retrospective and closing this project out.

Will be adding all pictures from harvest under FP but the plant they come from will be described in the caption to the best of my abilities. The plants were different maturities by trichome development and unfortunately I was unable to keep track of all plants branches through the process. With that in mind, all future updates will be regarding all plants but listed under FP and usage details will be just part of the crop.

Mainly healthy growth continues. Because harvest is soon, there was removed many fan leaves from every plant that were appearing sickly or blocking bud sites. Seedy's mid and top buds trichomes overwhelmingly cloudy with dots of amber. LB mid and top buds trichomes had similar but more amber and no appreciable clear. FP mid and top buds trichomes were the least developed, but there were still periodic amber and mainly cloudy but a small amount of clear. Plants received 4L indicated fertilizer water. All water going in and out 6-7 pH. This will be the plants last watering.
Nota
Harvest Plan and Details: Harvest date will be Saturday 8/15, which will be 17 weeks 1 day from sprout, and 10 weeks 1 day from flower switch. The vendor recommended 10 weeks of flower, and while I feel I could probably give them another week or so, this Saturday in particular is personally an excellent day for me. Also since my test of the flower my patience has waned faster ;). The weight is there and trichomes are mature enough to be mainly cloudy, small amount of amber, and very sparse clear being a fairly close summary of all plants trichomes. Because the trichomes have appeared to mature about every watering these past two weeks, I believe that a few more days of development plus seeing as they continue to mature as they dry will place the plants within an appropriate harvest window, albeit on the early side. Additionally, the branch that fell off 13 days ago gave potent and pleasant effects, and I am a daily user. I will attempt to take note of trichome development of each plant come harvest and keep the buds from each plant together to try the differences. Plants may be taken down before 8/15 but only if mold or some other severe issue presents itself. Anticipating minimal updates until likely Saturday night, and then there will be an update regarding plans on how the journal will be updated until the bud is fairly well cured, pictures from the harvest, and more.

LB branch update: Was planning on curing for another 24ish hours, but the urge to sample again became too great. The "cure" took place for 6 days, with 2x 30 min-1 hr burpings per day. Humidity early on would push 70 and then drop to mid 50s after burp, then back up. After a few days, this stabilized in the 60-65% "cure zone" for a couple days and then began falling into the 50s and I did not want to use my bovedas that are meant for Oz's for the 1 gram branch. Smell was still mainly fresh green from the jar, though there was occasional faint notes of shelf product cannabis. Upon grinding, the characteristic cannabis smell became very strong. Not going to pretend I can tease all the various smells of cannabis apart, it just reminded me of various top shelf bud I have had in the past. Unfortunately, smoke taste is still mainly fresh green, though definitely better with hints of characteristic cannabis taste, and smoother feel than when it was first dried. I imagine a slower dry (this branch had mainly dried in a day) and proper cure will bring out some very nice qualities from these plants. Potent flower, pleasant effects. All the more excited for harvest!

Today is 15 weeks 1 day from sprout, 9 weeks 1 day from 12/12 switch. Pistils are mainly all red and receding, very few white left. bud trichomes mainly cloudy, with very sparse amber and sparse clear. Some leaves continue to die off as the plants end their life cycles, majority effected and effected leaves blocking bud sites were removed. The vendor recommends harvesting in 6 days. The next watering will be on Tuesday, which is also a week of the branch from LB curing. Will likely try that again and if the effects are satisfying and if on Tuesday I check trichomes again and see more development they will likely be harvested on Friday 8/14 or Saturday 8/15. Update on meter and watering plan in feeding note. Plants received 4L Indicated fertilizer water. All water going in and out 6-7 pH.
Nota
Feeding considerations:The ppm meter seems to be shot, it now reads errors on all aqueous solutions used in the watering process. The plan is to keep using the light PK booster until harvest unless the plant slows down maturing unexpectedly or shows signs of toxicity. This will likely be the last Feeding Considerations entry.

LB branch update: tried a bowl this morning from the grinder, had for sure a more typical cannabis taste. For sure potent and effects seem nice. Felt on first few hits, the bowl was a pleasant dose. I have a much deeper bowl that I have to consume about all of of the last street product I got; thus, this stuff seems more potent with more desirable effects. The rest that is curing is becoming a more stable humidity in the jar. Still planning a few days in the jar burped a few times a day,, and there will be a break in entries regarding this until the rest of the branch is tested, and at that time I will update on how the cure went.

Feeding considerations:PPM meter may have a problem as described in the daily log. It worked as expected up until the first plant was watered, and the plant runoff slightly decreased as anticipated. The plan is to repeat this fertilization Saturday, and check trichomes. If they are showing a decent rate of maturation and plants don't show alarming deterioration, these light PK feedings will be repeated until harvest.
Nota
Mainly healthy growth continues. I have begun cutting leaves off whos surface shows a majority of discoloration, not many this time. As time progresses more branches need support by zip ties. Humidity has been running higher lately, have been watching closely for mold as buds are getting dense. The oscillating fan was turned up. I may have an issue with my PPM meter. Things measured as expected up until the second plants runoff, which then began reading as an upper limit error. Other oddities occured, so I will be testing the PPM meter in the coming days to diagnose what's going on. The plants have seemed very healthy and nothing going in or out, all measured with tools that accurately tested distilled water at the beginning of the grow, has suggested a buildup of salts. plan will be elaborated in feeding considerations but generally is to read the plants, keep a consistent close eye, and continue as previously. Plants received 4L indicated fertilized water. Water going in 6-7 pH 275 ppm. FP runoff 1020 ppm 6-7 pH. Seedy and LB 6-7 pH.
Nota
LB branch update:Got a few hits this morning, but was the last few of the bowl. Was slightly distracted so couldn't focus in on effects. For sure had an improved taste already, and seems potent as there are notes of effects on first exhale, as noted yesterday. Have some still in the grinder to try a solid amount with another clean mind and attempting to further tune into effects, update tomorrow focusing on the experience of a wake and bake fresh bowl. The rest continues to perhaps cure, it is in a quart Mason jar and the humidity spikes to 70s but rapidly will go down to 50s when burped. Bud seems well, maybe around a g or so, planning on giving it a week burping a few times daily or until the humidity remains consistent for a day or so

LB branch update. Weight went from 5.7->1.5 by 48 hours, being close to the 75% loss I read to be common. The stem snapped when bent, and so a small amount was grinded to sample at a later time and the rest was placed in a jar to emulate a cure, though the RH is low in the jar. Tried the sample early. Had ingested about 60 mg edibles earlier, wanted to wait til that had wore off but impatient. Smoke felt a little on first exhale, for sure effects at second puff. Seems potent as the threshold for effects is usually high while I am on edibles. Effects feel nice, and will update tomorrow as I try it with a clear mind to more tease out the potency and effects of the product on its own. Taste is green and hay, wouldn't say bad but much prefer the properly cured taste I imagine, though at least not particularly harsh. If they cure to a good smoke experience and effects translate well in repeated use, this first grow is shaping up to be a win.
Nota
Mainly healthy growth continues. I'm convinced the problem mentioned on 7/19 was resolved as the noted K deficiency or the plants are ending their life cycle and now are beginning to cannabalize their fan leaves. They seem overall healthy but random leaves dropping and losing color, not exactly the pretty fall like colors i see in online photos but I believe this to be what is happening. Likely only a few more weeks for the plants to go, and am anticipating to be from today to beginning cure within 4 weeks.

14 weeks 2 days from sprout, 8 weeks 2 days from 12/12 switch - Mainly healthy growth continues. Trichomes appear mainly immature, saw mostly clear on developed buds and perhaps one amber on sugar leaves. Pistils appear mainly red, though some white still and maybe some new whites thrown out but progressing towards mostly red and receding. Buds fattening noticeably every few days at least. Calyxes becoming swollen and distinct, and no evidence of hermaphroditism. Plants are maturing nicely, and vendor recommended chop date is 8/14/20 so I am anticipating harvest to be around then. Unfortunately, a small branch snapped beyond saving on LB. The branch was cut off. It will be trimmed, dried, and used to gauge effect and then an attempt at a cure. Will also use this chance to see dry trimmed weight versus wet trimmed weight. Will update as more data comes in. Plants received 4L of indicated fertilized water. Water going in 410 ppm 6-7 pH. Seedy runoff 1100 ppm. LB runoff 1200 ppm 6-7 pH. FP runoff 1200 ppm 6-7 pH.
Nota
LB branch update: Picture of trimmed bud added under FP but is from LB. This is my first grow and so first trim. trichomes are mainly clear so likely not as potent as it could have been. Looking forward to the test nonetheless. Weight 5.7g, hoping for not much loss but not expecting it. Drying in room at 50 RH, starting at 1147 pm 8/2. Doesn't bode well for overall yield if it loses 75% or so weight like I've read, but we shall see!
Nota
Feeding considerations: 2 plants remained the same ppm and one decreased slightly. All are within 100 of 1200 ppm. This is the final few weeks of life according to the vendor, so for the next feedings I will likely be solely using the weak PK booster, Big Bloom, as a sort of flush as the water will still be low ppm going in, and water plain out of the tap is likely slightly higher pH as the nutrients seem to have a built in pHing effect to the 6-7 range. This is the plan for at least the next few waterings. If the plants begin to show distress or the maturation slows I will reintroduce stronger nutrients.

Mainly healthy growth continues. No noted progression of issues mentioned first on 7/19. I have been giving an increased amount of water, to almost twice as much over recent waterings. I waited an extra day to water since it was borderline whether I should or not when they were due for it, but today there was some symptoms of underwatering. Will try to avoid this in the future. Each plant received 4L of indicated fertilizer water. Water going in 475 ppm 6-7pH. FP runoff 1105 ppm 6-7 pH. Seedy runoff 6-7 pH 1115 ppm. LB runoff 1000 ppm 6-7 pH.

Feeding considerations: as expected, all plants ppms increased to having all 3 plants being around 1100 ppm. Mainly healthy growth continues. Weekly pictures up, including pictures of leaves impacted from the issue mentioned first on 7/19. As I was able to spend extra time with the plants, it is clearer now that the issue is not very widespread but is still enough for me to do my best to be vigilant about. LB is more impacted than FP, and Seedy is looking pretty much fine. Examining the trend of runoff PPM reveals that FP and LB have been trailing Seedy for a fairly long stretch of waterings. With this info in mind, I am currently leaning towards thinking the problem is deficiency, in particular Potassium (K). Each plant received 4L of indicated fertilizer water. Water going in 550 ppm 6-7 pH. Seedy runoff 1055 ppm 6-7 pH. LB runoff 950 ppm 6-7 pH. FP runoff 6-7 pH 930 ppm.
Nota
Feeding considerations: As expected, all ppms increased. They are now all around 1000. As mentioned in the daily notes, I believe the cause of some of the spots on the leaves to be a deficiency. With this in mind, and if there is no sign of sudden nutrient burns or toxicities, the next watering will again be a repeat of this fertilization, but without CALiMAGic.

Will get pictures of some affected leaves for reference and to ask for help if I am unable to diagnose and fix it myself. Going to likely use the same fertilization as previously and also adding in some CALiMAGic, I'm hoping the issue is a simple deficiency as there has been virtually no nutrient burn. Some other possibilities include pH fluctuations (have been using strips the whole grow, have always shown 6-7 going in and coming out) or wind burn (the new fan has been relentlessly blowing for weeks now). The pH issue would require a pricy meter, and theres not much I can do if it is wind burn as I believe the airflow is important at this point in flower as buds thicken and I am unable to keep rh under 50 reliably.

There was noticed similar spots showing on leaves on all 3 plants. It is likely some sort of deficiency as my water is very soft and runoffs have been lower than I see recommended most of the run, or potentially pH problems. I have been using strips and the water i have been using by strips has been showing a pH of 6-7 for water going in and in the runoff. As it is getting to be late in flower, the plant may be more selective about the conditions it is in. Fertilizer tomorrow, going to be a slight increase in nutrients used. Will be keeping a close eye on the progression. Going to get pictures in about 6 days, and if it keeps getting worse I may invest in a nice pH meter. Feeding considerations: All plants did not vary much from last watering in PPM although it was a fertilization. All plants are within 100 PPM of each other. If plants remain healthy, next watering will be another fertilization with potentially slightly increased nutrients for these last few weeks to ensure there is enough food to power the bud fattening, my runoffs have been slightly lower than Id seen them recommended. All plants have been very healthy though.
Nota
Today is 12 weeks from sprout and 6 weeks from 12/12. More pistils reddening, not yet particularly receding. Trichomes clear, no cloudyness or amber noted although I didn't look extremely hard as this is only 60% through vendor recommended flowering period. There was noted some droop on all plants, though easily the worst on LB, the smallest plant in the smallest amount of dirt. I watered hours later than normal and they're always pretty ready when I water on time; thus, if that was the cause, I will think ahead more and water early if need be to prevent drying out. Plants received 3L of indicated fertilized water. Water going in 410 ppm 6-7 pH. FP runoff 800 ppm 6-7 pH. Seedy runoff 729 ppm 6-7 pH. LB runoff 770 ppm 6-7 pH. In the hours that followed the watering, the plants seemed to perk back up. Very likely I watered a little late. Update on previous feeding considerations entry from 7/11: LB has shown no signs of burn or other things that would suggest a lockout that explain the sharp rise in ppm. If nothing changes, for LBs watering tomorrow, I am considering using a normal volume of plain water first, then checking the runoff. If there is a very sharp drop in ppm, that could suggest that the reading from previous feeding was an anomaly (the measurement was not taken from ideal runoff conditions, there wasn't much to measure and no matter how much I wash the runoff pans there always seems to be a leftover layer of salts that could've been picked up and I suspect it is possible this caused the spike). If this is the case, the second volume will be fertilizer like the other plants received. If it is not, another volume of plain water will be added. Will have more details tomorrow.

These budlets are already very frosty, and all sites with bud formation are looking frosty. The plants have remained healthy for just about the entire grow. No sign yet of pistils maturing so still a while to go. Will be watching the plants reactions from the recent changes I made including changes to the environment to minimize mold risk, supporting branches, and trying to keep light exposure ideal. Buds get bigger and frostier by the day, and some of top colas aren't far off from stacking their buds. Received more big bloom fertilizer, so that will be used to finish out the run. Towards the end of day, there was noted very minor nutrient burn on some leaves on all plants. In light of this, the next watering will be a plain watering rather rather than another fertilization in spite of what the previous feeding considerations entry said.

Healthy growth continues, no noted issues. A graph of plant heights suggests the stretch is pretty much over, slight increases in height for 2 and no change for 1. Plants received ~2.5L of indicated fertilized water. Water going in 390 ppm 6-7. LB runoff 900 ppm 6-7. FP runoff 700 ppm 6-7. Seedy runoff 920 6-7.
Nota
Feeding considerations: Seedy and LB ppms are up to the 900s, an increase from last feeding. FP, the largest plant, remained roughly the same at 700 ppm. This makes the 4th fertilization in a row, and if plants respond well to this one the next watering will be a repeat of this one, and then will most likely give a plain watering following unless they feed heavily in the following days.

Nota
The broken branch on LB was aborted and cut off at the break very late last night. A branch on Seedy growing from the same region of the main stalk as the branch on LB that broke was noted to be at a similar angle. The probable cause of these is likely that since they are lower branches, the plant has oriented them in an ideal position to get light but this puts that stem at higher risk for breaking. As I let the plants get rather large and the buds are further fattening and coming close to stacking, a method of staking and supporting main branches will likely be implemented. This evening, maybe 20ish hours after the removal, the plant shows no signs of distress. Overall, healthy growth continues.

Environmental note: Today was extremely high humidity, my weather app shows the low as 81% and the high is 100%. The current reading said 100%. Unless the humidity stays this high for several days it should not be concerning. Will provide followup updates on this as needed if it stays extremely humid like this.
Nota
On LB, there has been one of the shorter bud developing stems that I noticed a few waterings ago as growing at a worrisome angle - at some points it was almost parallel to the ground. Today it was noticed that the branch has snapped, though not cleanly, about halfway up and below the break are no bud sites. To keep it supported it has to be on other plants and blocking quality bud sites for decent light exposure. I am considering propping it up with something like bamboo, just leaving it be, or removing the entire branch. Though it's early in flower yet, the buds developing on it look like at best they would be the plants mid grade buds. Plan is to let the branch be and if it goes downhill it will be cut. Elsewhere on LB, and on all other plants, healthy growth continues.

Healthy growth continues, no noted issues. On some of the most developed tops, there was noted a very faint layer of crystals on sugar leaves closest to the developing buds. Implementing the following - My 3 plants are placed in a triangle shape and I can only have access to the tip of the triangle in my tent due to space constraints in the room the tent is in. This plant will be rotated daily. Plants are brought out of the tent for waterings, so every watering, the plants will be rotated one spot clockwise. Will note how they respond to this. I believe this will be a solid non complicated way to give a fairly equal environmental experience for each plant.

Environmental note: The typical environment entry is taken from a therm/hygrometer placed in the tent. Recently, I have had a laser thermometer that I've been taking measurements along sections of the plants with. The bottom can be as low as 77, but the typical temperature range for the areas where bud development is noticeable is 80 to 81.5, with the higher up the top you go the higher the temp. Future environmental notes may be regarding that temperature. It appears to be a range this strain from this breeder has liked thus far.

Today is 9 weeks from sprout and 3 weeks from 12/12. Clear small bud sites all over all plants with many white pistils. some of these, typically at ideal distances from the light, are starting to increase in size noticeably. The stretch was underestimated and the light was adjusted to be at its highest possible point, if stretch persists supercropping will be needed but ok for now. Graphed heights suggests stretch end is near. Light is 10 inches from top of tallest plants tops, 18 inches from smallet plants tops. Plants received ~2.5L of indicated fertilized water. Healthy growth continues. No noted issues with the plants themselves. Environmental concern - The stretch seems to be slowing down though not done, and the tallest plant's tops are worryingly close to the light. To combat this, the plant has been for some days now positioned away from directly under the light. My hope is that the concentration of light, as it drops off with distance, is still high but not high enough that it could stress the plant, and temperatures at the tops of the plants closest to the light have been at the higher end but still within healthy range. The light will be adjusted again in a few days, and this will be about as high as the light can go. The reasoning for this is that keeping the light close to the top of the largest plant will hopefully of discouraging the stretch a bit. If the largest plant continues to stretch much longer, supercropping may be required.

Feeding considerations: 2 plants barely increased in PPM from last watering despite relatively high concentration feeding. FP had a nice increase but is still lower ppm than the two who remained consistent, and all are still under the ~1000 I would like to see. Next watering will be a similar fertilization to bring ppms up unless plants do not take this fertilization well.

Healthy growth continues, no noted issues. Feeding considerations: Measurements were taken from not enough runoff to submerge most of the meter on all but FP. Regardless, results weren't particularly surprising. FP and Seedy slightly increased with the suspected light feeder, LB, remaining very similar to last watering. Next watering will be CalMag, and next fertilization will be 50% strength flowering/supplemental fertilizer. Running low on supplemental fertilizer, may ditch it when it runs out. If plants continue to respond well, the plan will be to slowly increase flowering nutes (my water is very soft-out of the tap is 80s ppm) until runoffs are measuring 1000-1200.
Nota
Plants were checked a few hours after lights on. Almost too healthy growth continues - the light is maxed on height and may have to be rigged differently to hang higher if the stretch keeps at this rate. Plants received 2.5L of water with indicated fertilizer. Water going in 385 ppm 6-7 pH. LB runoff, very low runoff amount so test is probably not the most accurate 875 ppm 6-7 pH. Seedy runoff 675 ppm 6-7 pH. FP runoff 670ppm 6-7 pH. Because of the stretch of initial flower, light has been and will be measured every watering to keep it 18 inches from the top of the lower tops of the shorter plants. This makes the tallest plant, FP's, tops fairly close to the light but they seem to be showing no aversion. Going to continually adjust and then as the stretch ends try to bring the light as close as possible to tops without inducing light or heat stress.

Today is 4 weeks from sprouting. Plants were checked before lights off. Healthy growth continues, no noted issues from feeding. The light was moved from 28 inches above canopy to 24 inches and adjusted in position to maybe better cover all 3 plants. LB is growing but not as vigorously as FP and Seedy were at an equal amount of time post topping, if this doesn't change in about 24 hours it could be indicative of just being a slow grower, took the topping harder, or the mistake I made underfilling the pots is preventing growing as much as the other two. Because of this underfilling, I am going to forgo LST as the tools I have require an anchor to the top of the pot and the pot is underfilled enough there wouldn't be much bending achieved if anchored to something on the side of the pot. I will instead do LST on the next grow and compare how LST+topping, a fuller pot, and experience compares to just topping. Though the plan was to flip to 12/12 in 4 more weeks or two feet in height, due to the change in growth pattern from topping and impatience, this will be adjusted to 2-4 weeks.

Plants were checked before lights off. Healthy growth continues and I believe it is safe to say all 3 have recovered from being topped and have the expected outcome within 48 hours of being topped. There is already significantly more horizontal growth within the plants and hardly any vertical so far and there will be at least 2 top colas on each. Plants were fed at 1700. Each plant was given 2L of indicated nutrient concentration, planning on giving more volume next watering as there was not enough run off to take proper measurements until runoff from all 3 was pooled, lessening the value of the data. If plants respond well, will begin feeding every other watering and upping nutrients by 10-25%/feeding. Going in pre nutrient-6-7, 80 ppm. Going in post nutrient-6-7 185 ppm. pooled runoffs 6-7 850 ppm

Plants were checked before lights off. Seedy is responding well to being topped, there is already noticable new growth where the node was removed. FP doing well too, no signs of distress and looks like there is increased growth below where the node was removed but not yet the formation of leaves at the node as was noted with Seedy. By end of day, Seedy has clear new fan leaves forming where it was topped, FP is growing elsewhere but has not yet began producing new fan leaves where it was topped. LB on track to be topped tomorrow unless Seedy or FP shows signs of distress.

Plants were checked before lights out. Healthy growth continues, and LB was getting a straighter stem with more assistance from my finger. It was noted that on LB, some of the leafy growth that is at the start of a node, after the next node has began to be well developed, was noticeably enlarged but only in certain areas, not uniformly. This was probably a result of the lst-like training i have been doing to straighten the stem as it makes those areas more exposed to light as the main fan leaves reorient toward the light. Plants seem to have responded well to the cal mag the other day, no changes, so my suspicion for the cause of the purple redish stems is from genetics or light exposure. FP and Seedy were topped (maybe FIM) in the evening at 1700, right after lights on

In the morning, it was noted that LB has same looking stem as FP when i was concerned about it. The stem was made straight with slight force from my finger, and this made the leaves face the wall. It was left like this to hopefully straighten as FP and Seedy have. Leaf canoeing is gone, and healthy growth continues. By lights off, it was observed that LB had already reoriented leaves toward the light and the stem angle looks closer to 90 degrees from the soil. FP for sure to be topped tomorrow, probably Seedy as well.

Seeds started breaking ground 3 weeks ago today. Plants were checked before lights out, healthy growth continues. There was noted leaf canoeing on the newer growths of FP and Seedy, so the light was adjusted to 28 inches above canopy. My suspicion for the cause is that because of the recent high heat and humidity combined with not having moved the light since they were very young seedlings has led to the canoeing. I classify today as the beginning of veg as fully mature fan leaves were being produced. Flipping will happen when the plants reach 2 ft in height or 5 weeks from today, whichever is sooner. Plants were watered in the evening. Going in= 6-7 pH, 220 ppm, 1mL cal mag/L each

Plants were checked before lights off. Healthy growth continues. Seedy and LB had been left alone except to grow and be watered while I paid attention to making FP stem look more normal, and it was noted today Seedy and LB stems are growing at weird angles like FP had been doing though not as concerning. Fairly certain they (and probably FP earlier then) are just adapting to go towards the light; the plants will be adjusted under the light to try and encourage more uniform growth

Healthy growth continues, and you could still accurately tell the order that they broke the ground by how far developed their newest nodes and associated leaves are. FP stem looked ok again, hoping it stays this way. As the plants are closer to being vegetatative and humidity recommendations are not as high as they are for seedlings, lights off mistings will be discontinued unless the rh dips under 40.

Ca/Mg is on the way, and in the meantime plant will be observed for other signs of distress to determine if the purpling is genetics or another reason. Healthy growth continues, and FP stem was still at an odd angle but looked good otherwise. There was set out 7L of water to dechlorinate for at least 12 hours. Watered during evening, and FP was once again placed where leaves faced the wall to encourage stem straightening.

Light was finally put on a timer, to reduce redundancy, lights are out 11-1700 from here until presumably flower. Measured in the morning and plants were all about 3.5 inches. Going to take measurements of plants on weekly basis from when plant broke ground (d21, d28 etc). FP stem was at an odd (~45 degree) angle to the soil again. Just going to let the plant do its thing unless intervention feels warranted. All leaves on FP look healthy except one of the first true leaves. All plants look good toward end of day, the bad leaf on FP looked pretty much the same still, while it's opposite leaf was healthy looking. You can still tell, developmentally, which ones are older just by leaf appearence. It does look like Seedy is catching up to FP; if it outgrows it considerably this would suggest some damage had been done to FP. The high blade count that is characteristic to cannabis is becoming more noticable on FP and Seedy.

At 11, plants were checked. FP had adjusted towards the light as hoped and it appeared as if the stem issue was fixed. However, the bottom pair of leaves appeared to be drooping and not as healthy as the other two plants bottom pair of leaves. Lights off 11-1700. There was noted that on FP, instead of the clean 180 degree symmetry you are to get with leaves it looks like the first set of true leaves is blocked by the first set of bladed leaves and is not looking as healthy, light exposed, or lifting towards the light as was Seedy and LB. The stem looks normal and leaves were still physically ahead of Seedy by appearence, and Seedy had broke ground one day later. Hope this trend continues and FP is not stunted. Seedy and LB looking great after watering

At 11, plants were checked and misted. New growth continues, and FP had adjusted it's leaves towards the light but the stem was still at about a 45 degree angle to the soil. Lights off 11-1700. Plants were rotated clockwise. FP stem angle does not look as odd but where the leaves begin and had adjusted toward light there was noticed a bend in the stem. The plant was placed in a manner that if the leaves move towards light again it should reduce the severity of the bend. This has the leaves currently facing the wall instead of toward the light due to the bend; rather than baby the plant to keep the leaves facing the light I am hoping this will remedy the bend. Plants were watered, pH of only runoff was taken and was between 6-7 by strips. There was not enough runoff to check ppm with confidence. Going to stop rotating plants until at least issue with FP stem is figured out. Light was resecured and was still ~24 inches from canopy. Unsure of impact since the raise, but plants do not appear to be stretching or other issues so unless any negatives are noted it will be left at this distance until later on.

Inspected nodes and since they seem to be growing close together and Seedy has some very slight leaf curl in some spots, moved light to 24 inches from canopy from 18 inches. Will be keeping a close eye on how they respond. Still slightly moist soil at knuckle level so watering tomorrow; going to look into moving onto normal waterings soon. 1 hr fan training, plants were rotated clockwise.

LB seems to be lagging slightly behind-broke ground 2 days late and also was victim to being knocked over at first major watering.
