Still keeping boveda’s in glass with those in the dark. Burping once per week now for minimal time. The overall response from friends and consumers is this was a great harvest. Smooth and strong high. Incredibly sparkly and frosty buds. Looking forward to trying some of the colas in a few months more. Really wanted to test this batches potency but will wait for the next harvests and test one of those.

Did a pre dry trim on all the stems today. Buds are looking good. Since these tents have maintained 58-68 RH, I’m pushing these to 12 to 14 days drying time before putting them in glass with #8 Boveda packs and hygrometers.
Will likely trim the small tent tomorrow or Tuesday and the other 2 on Thursday.

Humidity in the tent has been kept about 65 degrees. I’ve moved the fan to the larger tent to help circulate air. The 2 plants taken down first are on day 8 of hang drying. A check this morning and these appear ready. May go do a trim session tonight if that’s the case. The larger tent is drying nicely. Holding about 20-22 degrees in the tent and mid to low 60’s for humidity. These were some larger colas so I’ve added the small fan to the bottom of the tent to circulate the air around those larger and lower hanging buds. I’ll watch this to ensure I don’t inadvertently dry them out too much. I’ll take some further pics while I’m in there and post them.

The stems that broke and were trimmed have been drying for the last 10 days. Took a while but it’s been a little humid here, and I didn’t do a wet trim on these. It ended up being about 10 grams - 7grams in good buds, and the rest c grade. Looks good though and has a nice smell. I’ll see what this smells like after a couple of weeks curing.
The macro shots taken yesterday show the start of amber trichomes on the single topped. I want a good 30% amber and the rest milky to capture the THC. I’ve started the flush and should be able to begin the harvest next weekend.

Will be harvesting at some point over the long weekend. Need some time to pull down all 4. I assume this will be mostly a full shift. I want to wet trim this Nuken as it’s very dense, and removal of the additional mass should support good airflow for drying. At least get rid of the bulk of the sugar leaves. This’ll save some time when doing the full trim before curing.

Minor catastrophe today as I came down to water and the back half of one of the single topped had 4 larger stems break/bend under the weight and density of the buds. I knew they were straining but I thought it was the main branches, not the smaller bud sites.
Long process, but seemed to have fixed the issue. I ended up having to trim off 8 small stems that I couldn’t tape or bring back. Under microscope, this is actually a fine time to harvest with most milky white trichomes, and a few amber starting to show. I want to get a full week flush in so I’ll do that now on this plant.
Steps to fix:
Took some yellow nylon twine and wrapped the front two plants around them a couple of times to hold the branches in. I was then able to cut away the original netting without fear of damaging any more branches. I moved one plant out, and realized the whole plant was swaying, so I also grabbed some bamboo stakes and put them in. I pushed the main stalk to where it should be, and placed the bamboo right beside it going in a good 6 inches into the soil. The main branch basically has a crutch to lean on for all the plants now. I was then able to get to the back of the tent to get at the bent/broken stems. I tried to save the bent ones, straightening them out and wrapping with painters tape for stability, but I was doing more damage to the good buds and stability of the tree fighting with the gloves, tape and delicate broken stems, so I opted to trim those just below the break with clean trimmers, and hung those 8 little buds to dry. Once that one was cleaned up and looking better, I used a lasso to tie to the top cross bar and to the top and heavier buds so they have support, plus with the yellow twine wrapped around, they’ll do fine for another week or two as I do the final flush.

No water today. Plants look pretty good and slowing down to about 2L per 4 days. Took some micro images and it appears most trichomes are getting cloudy. Lots of clear still and little amber. I think this is still a good 2 weeks out. Buds are getting nice and fat, but could be denser.

The double topped was still not drinking, so I opted for a full flush. Took it outside, she got to enjoy the sunny day and 2 full flushes with straight hose water. The water was a little cold but I think the warm weather helped it warm quickly. I hope to have washed away any salt or crystal buildup on the roots. I let it drain outside for about 20 mins, then wrapped it in a garbage bag and brought it back into the tent. I don’t like to bring any plants near the tents from the outside world just to mitigate bugs and such, but I have to put it back in with the non topped Christmas tree, so I’ll watch for pests over the next couple of days. Once the double topped dries out, I’ll do a regular watering with nutrients for the current 8 week flower recommendations.
I’ll add a couple of images over the next couple of days as I know she’ll look all droopy tonight /tomorrow as the flush will over water her.

Due to limited water intake, and managed pH, cal-mag, micros... I can only conclude these cloth grow bags can suck sometimes. Transplanted the double topped as it was not drinking, and actually starting to form moss. I think it was cramped for space in the 5 gallon pot. Transplanted it today very easily into a 7 gallon plastic pot with good drainage holes. Added a couple inches of organic soil for a base, cut away the cloth bag and transplanted it. Added soil to top it up and added a little nutrient to the edges to allow it to flow down, hopefully causing those tight roots to reach out for the new space.
Will monitor for the next few days and see how this affects the water intake. If it’s still stunted, I’ll do a full flush and let it dry a little before going back to watering.

The one with calcium/ph issues seems to have been stopped with the regular addition of calmag with each feeding. The additional plants had one or two leaves that started showing signs but this was stopped with the early calmag additions. I’ll still monitor but this should be good now.

Noticed an issue with one of the topped plants today. It just started getting slight discolouration on some upper fan leaves and they were developing little brown spots.
I know the Christmas tree had nitrogen deficiencies, but this is starting up the plant, and not at the base where nitrigoen would usually show first.
Doing some reading in the “Marijuana Garden Saver”, the lower curling leaves and the fact I’m using RO water is making me think it’s a calcium deficiency. This also reduces potassium uptake which is what I thought this was based on images. I’ve added calmag to all in recommended quantities of 1.25ml per litre. Will add this to the next feeding cycles going forward and monitor.

It’s amazing how fast, fat and tall these colas are getting. I hadn’t seen this kind of growth on the previous GSC plant, although I had serious deficiencies on the GSC during early flower weeks which I assume locked out some nutrients and in the end, overall growth.

Still having issues with the Christmas tree, and with all the fan leaves, I wonder if that’s sucking up the nutrients and adding to the deficiency. I still assume this is nitrogen but it’s getting a few more leaves turning on the lower section of the plant. I was very light on the extra nutrients last week, so I feel a little more comfortable increasing to see if it stops the yellowing.
In comparison, the other topped and defoliated plants are not showing any signs of stress or nutrient deficiencies.

Added a L of water and half dose of micro nutrients (nitrogen) for the Christmas tree. It was the only plant not defoliated and is showing signs of a deficiency. I’ll monitor and see if the additional nitrogen fixes the issue, or if it’s a different issue. It’s yellowing starting from the bottom fan leaves so I’m hoping I’ve caught it in time.

Beginning of week 3. I plan to do the last defoliation today and then no further trimming unless it’s a dead or diseased fan leaf.
Since the end of veg defoliation, all trimmed plants have fully developed a new canopy that does block node sites getting full light on the mid and lower branches. Cleaning these up again should allow good light penetration to the bud sites promoting better growth. I hope it provides a more dense bud in this early growth stage.

I’ll keep an eye on any changes to the plants with the lowering of the flora grow in the nutrients. They’ll be consuming more water as well during this 3 week growth spurt, so I’ll watch for nitrogen deficiencies with lower yellowing. So far, it’s been good.
All the plants fully recovered and have canopy coverage back up after the major defoliation the week before flipping to flower. I’ll do one more defoliation at the end of week 3 flower and then not defoliate again until harvest, aside from dead/dying leaves. The defoliation really helped getting light to the lower nodes, and growth is very apparent from the new fan leaves off every bud site. Seeing the smaller popcorn buds that were on the bottom of the GSC, I still think you can beef these up with good maintenance. I may try really scrubbing all the lower nodes on one plant to test the theory that scrubbing those lower branch nodes cause the cola to become shorter, but more dense? I like the nice arm sized colas, so if it stunts the growth, I may always leave them and just keep the new little fan leaf growth to a minimum in order to direct more of the energy upwards on the branch.

Plants look good after the extra sleep and the setting up of the netting and little trim. I’ll do a 3rd week defoliation and lower branch scrub and then leave it alone. I’ll be testing these Nuken by removing the lowest nodes on each stem to divert the growth and energy to the end of the branches and main bud sites. The logic is the yield on those top buds will develop more than the lower popcorn will provided left to grow.

Set both tents to 12/12 for tonight. Added some netting to one tent to see how well it pulls the stems apart versus the hassle. Did it in stages with the back first sloping up to the front, and eventually getting the front down and level. See the images. Came out not too bad and does allow the bending and filling in of the ScrOg.

Added another 4x4 tent for additional space once these go to flower. The 3x3 will be used for light depletion for 2 days and then hang drying the GSC x Jack Herer harvest. I’m just starting to see the odd amber trichome and very little clear, and it’s been flushed with RO water for the week.

Did a second topping to the one twin today. Above the 3rd node from the last topping.
Lst clips have all been removed and will let this one rest. Week 5 in veg so it’ll have 3 weeks at least to recover before flipping to flower. May lollipop the bottom of this twin, but will let it recover a week first.
Need to increase the water amounts per feeding. I should have watered yesterday but a day missed shouldn’t wilt the plant as much as the one did. It started recovering as soon as it was watered. Getting up to a couple of litres per feeding twice per week.

Topped all 4 Nuken plants today. The idea is to top them again in about 2 weeks once these have healed and have a couple of nodes on the new stems. Took about 5cm off of each plant using Fiscar’s stainless steel pruning snips.
Decided to use the lst clips while the stems are nice and pliable. It’s still a little stressed from the topping done earlier today. Will do a good watering in the morning and will look to add additional clips over the next two weeks before a second topping. Trying to do a manifold / main line.

Transplanted 3 of the plants into 5 gallon grow bags. Never used these but apparently should allow good oxygen to the root structure while allowing water to run off easily. Handles made these easy to work with.

Also, forgot to note that I picked up and switched the Phlizon 900 with a new Phlizon 1200 led in the 4x4 side this past week so the GSC can go into flower next weekend with a light switch to 12 hours. I put that guy into the new 3x3x6 Lumo-x tent I picked up where I moved the 900 to. Both are on separate battery backup digital timers.

First week going into veg. I need to transplant these to 5 gallon pots in the next day or so and confirm if I can do the first topping on one of the twins. (Want 5 nodes 1st).
Plants have looked a little droopy the past couple of days. Water meter confirmed moisture and pH levels were good but started getting a little yellowing as well. Added the first nutrient in low dose and will see how they react. Once they’ve had a few days adjusting to their 5 gallon homes, I’ll start the lst with the plastic benders and train them out. I’ll top at least 2 and get ScrOG going on them. I may need to put up netting inside the whole 4x4 side, just need to figure out the heights for watering the back corner.

Another day later and almost all of the yellow has corrected itself. The bottom two leaves on the worst one will drop off in a day, but the seedling has recovered with the transplant.

Transplanted to 2 gal. pot 2 days ago. All seem to be taking to the new space just fine. All of these nuken seedlings were showing signs of nitrogen deficiency in varying degrees of minor to major on one seedling. This was part of the reason to move to their first pot to have additional nutrients naturally.

Seedlings looking good. Watered lightly daily at soil with sprayer when looking a little dry. Might be twice per day but keep the roots in good condition. Seeing tiny poking of a root at the bottom. Possibly look to transplant these to 2 gallon pots next week before it goes into veg. Eventually finishing in the 5 gallon pot.

Disregard the change in environment note. The indoor setting was noted as 12 hours when in fact these seedlings have been at 18 hours.
5 seedlings in various states of health are gaining roots. Got a couple inches height but one had trouble shedding the seed husk and is spindly due to no light absorption. One is stunted but developed many leaves? 2 look beautiful. Good colyden leaves came out for both of these. They’ve now sprouted initial leaves, growing tall for the light and getting stronger. I used a stick to keep one upright, but these two seem the most likely to be the ones to keep.
I may try fimming and topping techniques on the others to note the reactions as my understanding is these are NOT autoflower. I’d like to try multiple toppings keeping it in veg a good 12 weeks. Want to see if I can make a nice medusa nuken tree. Min 8 kolas but want to push one to a 16 head beast.
I’ll have to really watch the health and node growth to determine the maximum opportunity to cut again. Three weeks between topping? Key will be the start timing.
