Starting the dry cycle.

It's crazy heat so I need to tread really lightly, so here's what I'm gonna do:

- there's 30C ambient temperature which I cannot control, so too low humidity will result it very quick dry
- the mold risk means I can't raise humidity by too much
- moisture can escape only when air is not saturated with water, so I can't blow the air out too often
- stale air means mold, so can't leave it still
- result: maintain 58-60% humidity to ensure slow dry, and set up very gentle airflow, and set clip fans to wake up once every 15 minutes to blow at the buds, but otherwise stay off

I haven't logged in a while because, well, there's nothing to tell: it's just growing. Environment has stabilized, and the plant Just Grows. Advanced Nutrients stuff is expensive, but it works phenomenally: the plants aren't the biggest, but I've never had plants this healthy. They're almost perfectly green. It's a game changer.

Spider Farmer CO2 and PPFD sensor has arrived. For some reason, my CO2 concentration is lower in the tent than it is outside it, and even adding two CO2 boxes didn't make a difference. There is negative pressure in the tent so CO2 shouldn't escape too much but the tent isn't sealed. Room for improvement for next time. The PPFD sensor is awesome, and it's now possible to automatically set lighting intensity correctly based on what the sensor says. I mean this log is basically an ad for Spider Farmer but their stuff really works. Not perfect, and there's probably better stuff out there (AC Infinity?), and the same can probably be done cheaper than Spider Farmer, but really, for what it is their stuff makes things very easy. I don't "grow" any more. I just wait till my plants deliver.

Humidity is in the 70% range and dehumidifier hasn't arrived yet, some customs issue. This is mold territory. Will have to spray Neem oil as a preventative measure, and increase exhaust. Co2 is cool but if I have to choose between Co2 and mold prevention, I choose mold prevention.

Added CO2 packet, because I don't see how the temperatures are going to drop (if anything they're going to get higher once dehumidifier arrives), so adding co2 will help them cope with heat. For now they're not heat stressed but I'd rather not make that gamble.

No CO2 sensor yet, that should arrive next week.

I don't think this major branch break is going to fix itself so I cut my losses and moved on. This plant is tiny, probably because of all the stress I subjected it to when it was very young, as well as unsuccessful LST attempts, overfeeding, etc.

Still, it looks like it might produce a few grams, so let's focus on keeping what's remaining of it alive and kicking.

I snapped the main stalk while doing LST. I fucking hate LST. The plant ended up being so compact and bushy it's very difficult to do anything at all with it, but it's also started growing pistils which means it's early flower now. It's still gonna do the final stretch thing, which means it will have some time to heal, but honestly I've already accepted the fact that there won't be a big harvest this time round. The only solace is that I didn't *need* big harvest because this one is a THC tree and I plan to consume it maybe like once every two weeks.

Putting "stress" back in "low stress training"! Accidentally tore off a couple of branches during my latest attempts at LST. I *really* need to up my game here, at this rate I'm not going to have a tree by the time I'm done shaping it lol

I got new LST clips from Amazon. Some of them work for one thing and don't work for another, but all of them are super hard and easily tear out the branches if you're not careful (and I wasn't - that's why I hate doing LST). I will slowly get better at this, of course, but still. I need to shop around for more LST clips, maybe some of the problems with cheapo Amazon ones were already solved with custom 3D printed or silicone molded ones.

Come to think of it, I might just make silicon molds of the ones I have and make them softer yet retaining their shape?

Humidity is now under complete control. I wish there was a way of setting graduated response to exhaust vent control, but that would be icing on the cake. Dehumidifier should arrive by the end of the month, and I wish there was a way to delay its start and wait until ambient humidity stabilizes before turning it on, but this is again icing on the cake.

Today I'm going to install drip irrigation, and the watering problem should be solved once and for all. It would be very cool to watch it work. Tomorrow I'll be installing the intake valve - well, it wouldn't be a *valve* because valve itself arrives on Friday, but it will be a filtered intake rather than whatever I have now which is just slightly open observation window. This valve will double as a filter for dehumidified air, as well as intake for when dehumidifier isn't working but still connected to the intake.
Nota
I made my first attempt at drip irrigation today, but the connections aren't secure so it leaks like a motherfucker. I'm going to fix it over the week, but when it doesn't leak, it works pretty well actually.

Spider Farmer power strip arrived yesterday, and I had set it up for the night to maintain humidity, and it's working perfectly. The environment is now consistent and stable. The humidity is high right now, and I'll need dehumidification further down the line, but for now it's fine. By the time dehumidifier arrives (which should be end of April), flowering should be starting, so I'll okay till then. Humidity is a bit on the higher side because of evaporation from coco and increasing ambient humidity due to weather getting warmer.

What I also noticed is that the grow tent gets sucked inwards when exhaust fan is working, meaning the grow tent is well sealed, which means I can experiment with CO2 supplementation. It's not for this growing season, but it'll happen at some point. Still, it's nice to know that Spider Farmer grow tent is well made enough to not need additional sealing. Well, when I add dehumidifier, it won't be as sealed because there would be an intake vent, but if it's working constantly, it should still be fine, I hope.

I've installed a humidifier but the smart plug hasn't arrived yet, so I'm using humidifier's own sensor for the moment. The sensor is located closer to the pot than my GGS sensor so it's picking up quite a bit more humidity, like north of 90%.

At first I thought something is wrong because if there's a damp corner it means my air circulation didn't work properly. I started tinkering with ventilation, clips fans etc, but couldn't get rid of it - my ambient humidity is in the fifties and I used to easily get it just by turning up ventilation, but I couldn't this time - no matter what I do I'm getting 65-ish and that damn damp corner.

Then it dawned on me: coco. It's the fucking coco lol. It's a fresh pot so it gives out a lot of moisture while drying. So, the fact that my elevated humidity levels are localized to the pot corner and aren't found anywhere else in the box means my air circulation is actually just fine!

Still displaying signs of nutrient deficiency, most likely cause is highly alkaline tap water. I'm using filtered water for the seedlings now, and pH downed water for Duncan. Because the coco was soaked in just the same highly alkaline tap water, I suspect it's still getting nutrient deficiencies and I can't flush because it'll take me ages to get enough filtered water to flush it (note to self: install water filter at home), but hopefully chelated stuff in my nutes will work in the meantime.

Made my first nutrient mix with Advanced Nutrients.

My tap water is alkaline like balls, 8.2 from tap. Mixed the nutes for the first time, but ph was 7.6, very high. Tried lowering pH of water first down to 7.0 then add nutes, this resulted in 6.7 pH no matter what else I did, so it sounds like this is the pH Perfect level.

I suspect next time I'll be mixing 2 or 3 or 4ml per liter, and ph will be able to come down from 8.2 no problem. I think the initial 1ml dose is too diluted for full buffer action.

Anyway, this is my first feeding. I hope the added phdown doesn't interfere with the buffer too much, but next feed I won't be adding phdown anyway.
