Today I realized that I was feeding the plant at the wrong doses since I was using the guides with US version of nutrients which recommended different doses than those advised in the EU version (Terra Aquatica). Waiting for the topsoil to dry out and start feeding corrected dosages. Silly me, I guess.

Today I’ve fitted a new exhaust fan with 2000 RPM, tomorrow a second one will arrive for me to stack in series for future carbon filter. Replaced the intake fan with the former exhaust fan, with some tinkering to neutralize the LEDs inside it so as not to disturb the plant with insignificant but still unwanted light, screwing it up a bit in the process — it still works, but somehow it has troubles spinning at full speed now, sort of going in waves, but I’m not too concerned about it since it’s still doing its job and intake is not as big of an issue as an exhaust anyway, and exhaust will be just fine. The former intake fan I installed inside the environment, situated roughly 50 cm above ground and undervolted at 9V. I’ve moved the humidifier right beneath it, so that the stream of dispersed water gets blown away from the fan and towards the plant and around the growbox. My thinking is that it will move some air around ensuring even distribution of temperatures plus providing plant movement in the future. I’m slightly concerned about the fan possibly being affected by moisture, but I hope that the worst case scenario will be short circuiting it and rendering it out of commission. It also got really cold outside, so I turned the heating on in the room to ensure the room air not getting too cold. Calibrating the light seems to have helped dial in the temperature to 25-26°C, and the humidifier takes care of moisture nicely, even almost too good, hence the inside fan to help move the humid air around. The first pair of true leaves have visibly grown and the plant is growing its second set of leaves now. I’ve fed the plant an increased dosage of nutrients today according to recommended schedule and I’m looking forward to checking up on the plant tomorrow.

Putting a regular ahh outside window thermometer straight inside the pot has been a blessing, bc two digital thermometers stocked into the walls and another probe hanging in the air all give varying readings (although the probe appears to give more accurate readings after cross-referencing with the window thermometer).

Introduced a cheap no-name tabletop humidifier into the environment since I happened upon it in the local store, beats wetting the towels and sponges thrice a day and nothing stinks anymore, so that’s nice. Monitoring the RH values to figure out if the humidifier is doing its job, will report findings later. Learnt about the Photone app to measure PPFD and DLI using the phone camera. Upon testing in my growbox I found that the DLI values were waaaay to high for the current distance and intensity — put the lights to the topmost position in my growbox and dimmed slightly to reach the values around 15 mol/m2/d, hopefully this helps my baby grow better.
